Anantnag, Jan 10: A meeting of officers was held on Tuesday which was presided over by Additional District Commissioner (ADC) Anantnag, Mohd Ashraf Bhat to finalize the action plan for the upcoming celebration of National Road Safety Week under ‘Swachhata Pakhwada-2023’ theme.
At the outset, Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Anantnag, Dr Mohammad Zubair Lattoo briefed the meeting about the importance of Road Safety Week. He said that during this period, various activities have been planned to be conducted across the length and breadth of the district in association with the education department, health, police, traffic, SDRF, civil society, traders’ federation, NGOs, insurance companies and other stakeholders.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADC said this National Road Safety Week event should be seen as an opportunity for aggressive campaigning to promote a culture of road safety among its users. He said the recent amendments in the Motor Vehicles Act should be highlighted through various seminars, workshops, events and meetings.
“With the help of banners and pamphlets, awareness about traffic rules and regulations set by the government should be spread among the public,” he said.
