Though he didn’t win his very first bodybuilding competitions, he took a lesson for life - to pursue the sports, it’s important to learn about its technicalities.

Mohsin Khan, a 25 years old powerlifter from Srinagar is one among the lot who are keen towards pursuing powerlifting as a career in future.

Hailing from Batamaloo area of Srinagar, he has won a number of titles in the competitions including three gold medals and is going to participate in his first national in Delhi.

He is preparing himself to give his best in the national championship and aims to win the gold medal from there.

Mohsin who also works as a bodybuilding coach in a gym said, “I started going to gym in 2018 and wasted my two years as there was no one to guide me in the field. Gradually I learnt everything and started doing powerlifting.”

He said that the techniques one has to keep in mind are perfect position and perfect technique. “In case the position and techniques are wrong, one can even get an injury. My friend whom I call my coach, Sameer Zahoor, has helped me for 3-4 months in learning the techniques,” he said.

Though the world of powerlifting has been existing since years, he believes that from some years, the sport is gaining momentum.“People often confuse it with weightlifting but these are two different fields,” he added.

He is all set for the upcoming national competitions where powerlifters from across the country will be participating. “Hopefully I will get gold and a lot of learning experience. Though this is my debut nationals, I am going to make a mark,” he said.
