2 drug peddlers arrested in Budgam

BUDGAM: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances and cash from their possession in the Badran area of Central Kashmir's Budgam district.

An official from the District Police headquarters told Rising Kashmir that the Police Station Magam has received information regarding two persons, namely Ab Rashid Lone son of Khazir Mohd Lone, and Shakir Ahmad Lone, son of Ab Rashid Lone, who have concealed narcotic substances at their residence.

"A police team from Police Station Magam raided the specific location and conducted the search." During the search, 31 kilograms of poppy straw were recovered from the house of the accused, and one of them was arrested on the spot. "Another accused, namely Shakir Ahmad, is absconding, and he will be arrested soon," the official said.

He said that a checkpoint was also established by police station Magam at the Badran crossing near the bridge. A police party intercepted one person roaming in suspicious conditions.After seeing the police party, he tried to flee from the spot, but police apprehended him tactfully.

"During the search, 272 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus, three bottles of codeine phosphate, and cash worth Rs 35570 were recovered from his possession." "The arrested drug peddler has been identified as Irfan Ahmad Lone, son of Ghulam Mohd Lone, resident of Badran," he added.

A case FIR numbers 22/2023 and 23/2023 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Magam, and an investigation has been taken up.
