Budgam, Feb 24: Renowned political activist Zaffer Mir (Lasjan) on Saturday stirred the hearts of villagers in Budgam with his impassioned address at a well-attended workers’ meeting.
The essential gathering of PRI Halqa Pohru A and Pohru B, held in Pohru village, resonated with Mir’s scathing critique of long-standing parliamentary candidates from parties like NC and PDP, who stand accused of failing to catalyze Budgam’s development over the past two decades.
Mir’s poignant rhetoric struck a chord as he lamented the absence of requisite funds share for the Chadoora assembly segment by central Kashmir’s parliamentarians for an alarming two-decade stretch.
“The ignorance and criminal negligence of parliament members regarding the geographical intricacies of Chadoora and BK Pora tehsil is disheartening. It has gradually fueled a sense of alienation and disempowerment among the local populace who have been kept away from their deserving developmental share,” he remarked.
Vowing to guide his supporters judiciously in casting their votes, Mir pledged vigilant scrutiny of political manoeuvres leading up to the impending parliament elections.
“It pains me to witness the blatant stagnation in Pohru. The apathy of elected representatives has deprived farmers and daily wage earners of the benefits promised under centrally sponsored schemes. They need to be held accountable and their developmental report cards need to be sought by the public before they start making empty promises for votes,” he asserted.
According to a statement issued here, the fervour of the crowd was palpable as they greeted Mir with fervent warming slogans and expressions of gratitude for his unwavering commitment to addressing longstanding grievances, such as the incomplete Pohru block shifting and the blacktopping of the Lone Mohalla-Goripora road.
“Despite widespread grassroots support, the local leaders from NC and PDP are now facing stern reproach from the people for their imminent failure to deliver on promises, including the much-touted model village which remained confined to blueprints & signboards,” he said.
Mir promised to advocate for the organization of awareness camps on animal husbandry and poultry farming for farmers, alongside specialized agricultural and horticultural sessions.
“The expeditious completion of the playground sanctioned by the DC Budgam is needed for the youth because welfare projects like such echo the community’s aspirations for tangible progress and equitable development,” he observed.
Amidst resounding cheers, local worker Mohammad Ashraf Mir vocalized the collective sentiment, declaring Zaffer Mir as the preferred candidate for Chadoora in the upcoming elections.
