Pulwama, Apr 27: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party’s senior Vice President, Ghulam Hassan Mir on Saturday urged youth to prioritise peace which according to him is necessary for investment and development in the region.
Speaking to media persons at the party headquarters here, he accused traditional political parties of turning the future of J&K’s youth bleak.
Mir said parents here ensure quality education for their kids despite facing immense hardships themselves. “After obtaining degrees, our youth face challenges of unemployment,” he said, adding that many youths live in depression and fall prey to drug abuse.
“Some depressed youth even attempt self-harm,” he said, adding that the plight of these youth doesn’t bother the political parties.
The Apni Party leader accused the traditional political parties of indoctrinated youth that there should be no peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
“They think that peace is in the interest of the Government of India, but I believe peace is necessary for us. Unrest is our enemy,” he said, adding that investment can happen only when there is peace.
The former minister appealed to the youth to prioritise peace and cautioned them against misinformation spread regarding investment.
“The heads of various countries across the globe invite businessmen to invest in their respective homelands because investment is necessary for development. However, fear was created in the minds of people in Jammu and Kashmir against the investment initiatives,” he said.
The senior vice president of JKAP said that Indian business establishments operate in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. “People in these countries have no reservations to the investment but a false narrative has been maintained by the political parties against investment initiatives,” he said.
Mir urged youth not to get carried away by emotional slogans and advised them to focus on their future.
