Year 2024: Cyber police recover Rs 17 lakh cash, Rs 16 lakh worth smart phones in Gbl

Every complaint to be addressed with sincerity, says SSP Raghav

Ganderbal, Dec 31: In a major success against cyber frauds in the Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, the Cyber police cell of the district Tuesday said that since March 2024, Rs 17 defrauded amount and Rs 16 lakh worth stolen smart phones were recovered.
Addressing a press conference here, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Raghav S highlighted the achievements of the Cyber Cell since its establishment in March 2024. He said that 87 mobile phones, worth Rs 16 lakh, were recovered from various locations. Of these, 74 phones have already been returned to their rightful owners and the remaining 13 were handed over today during an event,” he said.
The SSP said that in the financial fraud cases, the Cyber Cell has resolved cases involved Rs 17 lakh cash of which Rs 3,78,527 have already been credited back to victims’ accounts. Additionally, the team has resolved over 56 cases related to blackmailing and social media account hacking, providing relief to the affected individuals.
“During the meeting, victims expressed their gratitude to the Ganderbal Police for their tireless efforts in recovering their lost devices and resolving sensitive cases,” the Ganderbal police chief said.
He assured the public of continued dedication to combat cyber-crimes and urged people to report incidents to the police without hesitation. He added that every complaint would be addressed with the utmost sincerity and sensitivity. To enhance public support, SSP Ganderbal announced the establishment of a 24/7 Cyber Helpline (9541786772) for assistance with cyber-related issues.
