Srinagar, Sep 18: A two-day training programme on “Aquapreneurship Development Through Modern Aquaculture” started at Faculty of Fisheries, Rangil on Monday.
The programme was organized by the Division of Aquaculture, Faculty of Fisheries, SKUAST-K with the financial assistance of National Higher Education Project (NAHEP), ICAR, SKUAST-K. The programme started with a brief overview of the workshop by Dr. Anayitullah Chesti, Head, Division of Aquaculture, (Course Director). He enlightened the house about the importance of the programme and of the modern aquaculture in livelihood enhancement and entrepreneurship development.
He gave a brief overview of the activities to be carried under the programme. Prof. Farooz Ahmad Bhat, Dean, FoFy while speaking on the occasion highlighted the importance of modern fish culture techniques in as livelihood and entrepreneurship development, He enlighten the house that among all ventures of aquaculture is one of the easiest and profitable venture and some modern aquaculture techniques land and water and can be started on least water and land use. On the occasion he welcomed all the participants and speakers especially Prof. Adnan Abubakr (Head, Div. of AEM), Dr. Nahida Akhtar (Chief Project Officer, Department of Fisheries, Govt. of J & K), Dr. Sheikh Shafat Hussain, Dept of Fisheries, Govt. of J & K, Mr. Eeshan Bashir, CEO, Kashmir Trout, Debtanu Barman, CEO Aquadoctor Solutions, Dr. Mujahid Khan (ARS), Scientist, CIFE Mumbai and all the other Heads/Scientists, students and scholars of Faculty of Fisheries. Dr. Mansoor Ahmad; Course Coordinator of the programme said that the two days programme was aimed to highlight importance and scope of modern aquaculture techniques as an income and employment generation sector through lectures, practicals and exposure visits. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Mansoor Ahmad Rather, Junior Scientist/Course Coordinator.
