‘Work on 55 Jal Jeevan schemes in progress in Rajouri’

Rajouri, Jan 05: District Development Commissioner Rajouri Vikas Kundal on Thursday chaired a meeting of the concerned officers to review the progress made under Jal Jeevan Mission.
Officers present in the meeting were DFO Rajouri, Arshdeep Singh; CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; SE Hydraulics, Sanjeev Sharma; ExEn Jal Shakti Mechanical, Manmohan Singh and other concerned officers.
Taking stock of the progress schemes, the meeting was informed that out of 293 proposed projects, the work on 86 schemes has been allotted while the work on 55 schemes is in progress.
In the Rajouri division, out of 183 schemes, the tenders for 46 schemes have been allotted while the work on 29 schemes is in progress, in the Nowshera division, out of 110 schemes, the tenders for 40 have been allotted and the work on 26 schemes is in progress.
The meeting was further informed that forest clearance is required for 182 schemes. It was decided that the concerned officers from Forest and Jal Shakti Department shall carry out a joint verification of the sites.
The DDC asked the concerned department to put in extra efforts to achieve the goal of providing tap water to all households as envisaged under the Jal Jeevan Mission. He also directed the concerned officers to expedite the pace of work to ensure that the projects are completed well in time to provide necessary benefits to the general public.
