Jammu, Sept 21: The contesting candidate of the Apni Party for Vijaypur Assembly Constituency, S Manjit Singh on Saturday said he will fight against “injustice” being done with the locals and educated unemployed youth in Jammu & Kashmir.
The former minister, addressing a series of public meetings in Vijaypur, questioned the involvement of the non-locals in trade, employment and the “grab” of resources. “This has annoyed the local population as they have been deprived of their constitutional rights after August 2019,” he said.
He said the elected representative should be aware of the difficulties of the people and fight for their rights. “This assembly election has provided an opportunity to the people of Vijaypur to elect a representative that can address their issues and bring prosperity in the constituency which has faced negligence at all the levels,” he said.
Singh said the unemployment rate has spiked after August 2019 in Vijaypur and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir. “This has left the educated youth jobless, and hence, the situation has turned alarming for the people,” he said
The Apni Party leader added, “The resources have been grabbed by the mafia and the trade has been gradually taken over by the outsiders. The situation is worsening in the industrial sector as the outsiders are given benefits and their applications are processed fast in comparison to the application for industrial units by the locals.”
Manjit said the Apni Party will fight in the Legislative Assembly for the rights of the people. He elaborated on the welfare scheme that would be started to benefit the locals in J&K if the party formed the government.
Meanwhile, Singh asked the people to vote and support the Apni Party in the elections so that their representative could resolve their issues.
