Srinagar, July 20: Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Danish Renzu on Sunday said that his goal is to change the stereotypical image of Kashmir in cinema and highlight the success stories of the Valley through his projects.Speaking to Rising Kashmir on the sidelines of the shooting of a new music video titled “Mojkasheer”, Renzu said his local music label is dedicated to empower Kashmiri musicians and promote their talent globally.“We want to create a bridge between Kashmir and Mumbai and help mainstream Kashmiri music. Over the last four years, we have done around 50 music videos, some in collaboration with top companies like Sarigama, Zee, and Sony. Now we are fully focused on working with local musicians in Kashmir,” Renzu said.He said his upcoming film, also set in Kashmir, will continue this effort to portray the region with dignity and depth. “Most of the stuff that’s coming out of Kashmir shows the region in a very negative light, terrorism, violence, pain. We’re fed up with that narrative. Our goal is to highlight success stories from the Valley and empower our artists,” he added. The filmmaker said his new song Mojkasheer is special to him. “It’s a patriotic song rooted in Kashmir, built around the emotional bond between a mother and son, where the mother symbolizes Kashmir. The video sends a message of hope and resilience,” he said.Danish Renzu is a filmmaker of global repute, best known for his critically acclaimed film The Illegal, which was nominated for the Oscar race in 2021 and starred Suraj Sharma, the lead actor of Life of Pi.
