Srinagar, Aug 10: A delegation of waiting list candidates aspiring for various government jobs on Saturday called on the Apni Party leaders here.
The delegation met the Apni Party’s General Secretary, Rafi Ahmed Mir, Chief Spokesperson, Muntazir Mohiuddin and Waqar H Bhati, the party said in a statement issued here.
During their meeting, the delegation presented a memorandum to the party leaders projecting their demands for amendment in waiting list order by relaxing waiting list rules and considering early resignations from the date of restoration of the waiting list – September 26, 2023, the statement said.
They said the government should ensure that vacant positions resulting from resignations there-of are filled with waiting list candidates next in line. This measure would provide relief and livelihood to qualified candidates who are currently unemployed and meritorious.
“We request an amendment in the waiting list regulations by relaxing waiting list rules and consider early resignations for vacancies caused by resignations in JE, FAA, JKPSI, VLW, Stock Assistant, and other positions,” they told the Apni Party leaders, adding, “This amendment is crucial for optimizing resource utilization and ensuring deserving candidates do not miss out on opportunities due to the current situation.”
The delegation informed that the problem has been compounded by recent recruitment drives for Assistant Engineer (AE) and Junior Engineer (JE) positions, leading many selected JEs to resign in favour of AE roles.
Similarly, many Financial Accounts Assistants (FAAs) may resign from Panchayat Secretary and Stock Assistant positions, and new recruits for Jammu and Kashmir Police Sub-Inspectors (JKPSI) are leaving vacancies behind, the delegation claimed, adding that these resignations, often occurring shortly after joining, reflect candidates’ preference for higher-level posts.
After giving them a patient hearing, the party leaders assured them that their demands would be projected before the concerned authorities.
Prominent among the delegation included Faisal Shah, Tahir Nabi Bhat and Tahir Hussain Naik.
