Kulgam, Nov 04: The Annual Girls Athlete Meet for the year 2023 was officially inaugurated in Kulgam on Saturday. The event, organized by the Department of Youth Service and Sports (DYSS), promises to be a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents and sportsmanship.
An official said, on side-lines to the Athlete Meet, the district administration of Kulgam also organized Vigilance Awareness Week – 2023 with the theme, “Say No to Corruption, Commit to the Nation”, along with various other programs.
He said, other initiatives by DYSS were the “Rally Against Social Evils”, addressing critical issues such as drug addiction, dowry, child abuse, caste system, domestic violence, female infanticide, and gender discrimination.
The opening ceremony of the Annual Girls Athlete Meet, 2023, was opened by Tehsildar Kulgam, Bilal Ahmad, who threw light on the message of ‘Say No to Corruption, Commit to the Nation’.
“This was a collaborative effort between the Youth Services and Sports Department and the District Administration which promises a vibrant and empowering platform for young female athletes to excel in their respective disciplines,” he said.
Tehsildar said that society needs to be vibrant and cautious, abiding by the laws, and reporting any cases of corruption to higher authorities for timely action. If people remain vigilant, accountability will naturally ensue, as the government maintains a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
