Kathua, Nov 21: Union Joint Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, Kavita Garg, who is designated Prabhari Officer for Kathua district, on Tuesday, presided over a series of events at Panchayat Sahar where overwhelming participation of people was witnessed.
The visit of the officer was part of the outreach programme, Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra which was formally kick-started across India on November 15, 2023.
While interacting with the inhabitants of Panchayat Sahar, the Union Joint Secretary said the aim of the outreach initiative of Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra was to enroll potential beneficiaries during the Panchayat-to-Panchayat campaign where saturation of all Centrally, as well as state sponsored schemes, are being targeted.
Garg acknowledged that the implementation of such programmes is crucial to ensure the last mile potential beneficiaries receive the benefits they are entitled to. She said the extensive programme will cover unreached beneficiaries, generate awareness about the government schemes, and give an ear to the unheard success stories of the beneficiaries besides taking their valuable feedback.
During the visit, the Union Joint Secretary engaged in interactive sessions with beneficiaries, allowing them to share their experiences and gather feedback about the existing schemes. These interactions play a pivotal role in understanding the ground realities and enhancing the effectiveness of government initiatives.
On the occasion, the District and Sectoral officers presented the development profile of the Sahar and its adjoining panchayats falling under the Kandi belt of the district
Speaking about the importance of these programmes, the officer highlighted how providing equitable access to schemes and benefits is a key pillar of good governance. Through initiatives like the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, the Union Government aims to narrow the gap between potential beneficiaries and opportunities, thus fostering inclusive development and progress.
On the occasion, Kavita Grag gave away Golden Cards, Financial Assistance under PMEGP, a gas stove under Ujjwala Yojna and Vermi Bed among the beneficiaries.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rakesh Minhas, GM NABARD Anamika, ACD Kishore Singh Katoch and PRI members besides district and sectoral level officers were also present.
