Srinagar, Nov 14: Children’s Day was celebrated in all government and private schools throughout the Kashmir Valley, where teachers extended their best wishes to students and presented gifts on the special occasion.
Fatima Farooq, a student from Beerwah, told Rising Kashmir that various programs were organized by the teachers at their school. Both teachers and students collaborated to host a range of activities in celebration of Children’s Day.
“The teachers also distributed gifts and chocolates among students, allowing us to enjoy this day with our teachers and classmates at school,” she said.
Aqib Bashir, another student said that the teachers at his school provided a variety of gifts to the students, which they purchased from their own funds. On this special day, the teachers distributed pens and diaries as gifts to the students.
However the Islamic Educational Institute Najan Beerwah celebrated Children’s Day with great enthusiasm and fervor.
This event served as a tribute to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, who was born on this day and was renowned for his affection and commitment towords children.
Students and staff united to organize a vibrant program that showcased the talents of young individuals. Cultural performances, including songs, dances, and skits, emphasized the significance of children’s rights and education.
Additionally, the school arranged an art and craft exhibition, along with debate and quiz competitions, to assess the knowledge and skills of the students on this special day.
Hilal Ahmad Bhat, Personal Officer at the Directorate of School Education Kashmir, said that Children’s Day was celebrated in all schools across the Kashmir Valley.
“The schools have organized various programs for students on the occasion of Children’s Day throughout the valley,” he said
In India, schools nationwide joyfully commemorate Children’s Day on November 14, coinciding with the birthday of our first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Revered as “Chacha Nehru” due to his profound love for children, Nehru’s legacy motivates educational institutions to transform this day into a festive occasion that highlights the distinctive attributes of every child.
Meanwhile, Minister for Health & Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakina ltoo addressed the colourful Children’s Day celebrations at the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Kashmir.
The celebrations, organised by Directorate of School Education Kashmir in collaboration with Bharti Airtel Foundation and Pi Jam Foundation, saw an overwhelming participation of students from different higher educational institutions.
The Minister of education, Sakina ltoo also felicitated the JKBOSE toppers of class 12th grade examinations.
