Srinagar, March 08: The Health & Medical Education Department has informed the Jammu and Kashmir Government that all vacant teaching faculty posts at GMC Rajouri have been referred to the J&K Public Service Commission (JKPSC) for recruitment.
The information was provided by the Minister of Health and Medical Education in the Legislative Assembly in response to a starred question raised by MLA Budhal Assembly constituency, Javeed Iqbal Chowdhary, regarding faculty shortages in the newly established medical college.
The MLA sought details regarding the sanctioned strength of teaching faculty and other staff at Government Medical College, Rajouri, including the current vacancy status and the steps being taken to fill these positions.
In response, the department informed the House that the sanctioned strength of teaching faculty, including CMOs and LMOs, is 119, out of which 55 positions are filled, while 64 remain vacant.
Similarly, the sanctioned strength of Non-Gazetted Staff at the GMC Rajouri is 415, with 293 in position and 122 vacancies.
Regarding the steps taken to address these vacancies, the department stated that all vacant teaching faculty posts have been referred to JKPSC for advertisement and selection of suitable candidates.
“The vacant posts are regularly being filled on an academic arrangement basis to meet the shortfall of faculty in each discipline, in accordance with SO 364 of 2020, dated 27.11.2020,” the department stated.
Furthermore, the Health Department informed the House that the matter of filling Non-Gazetted vacancies is currently under active consideration.
