Srinagar, Feb 09: According to the proposal put forth by the Ladakh Administration, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has agreed to establish a center in Kargil for conducting the Civil Service (Preliminary), NDA, and IFS examinations.
Starting from this year, the CAPF examinations will be held in both Leh and Kargil.
In an official letter, the Secretary of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Shashi Rajan Kumar, stated that the UPSC conducts various examinations, including the prestigious Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, throughout the country every year.
Currently, Leh in Ladakh serves as one of the examination centers for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, which also includes the Indian Forest Service (Preliminary) Examination, National Defence Academy & Naval Academy Examination, and Combined Defence Services Examination. This center, along with other nearby centers, caters to candidates from the Kargil District of Ladakh.
Considering the recent developments and requests received from the Ladakh UT Administration, as well as other organizations and individuals from the region, the Commission has decided to establish a center in Kargil for all the aforementioned examinations, including the Central Armed Police Forces (ACs) Examination. The Kargil center will be operational for the first time during the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination in 2024, scheduled to be held on April 26, 2024 (Sunday).
Furthermore, in response to the requests to continue operating Leh as a center for the Central Armed Police Forces (ACs) Examination, the Commission has decided to maintain Leh as a center for this examination as well.
