Srinagar, May 05: In a significant development, police along with security forces arrested two terrorist associates at AlooraImamsahib area of Shopian and recovered arms, ammunition, grenades & other incriminating materials from their possession.
A police spokesman said that acting on specific information, Police along-with Army (34RR) & and CRPF (178BN) established a checkpoint in Village AlooraImamsahib area of Shopian.
“During checking, the joint party intercepted and arrested two terrorist associates identified as Amir Ahmad Mir son of Zahoor Ahmad Mir &Zaffer Azad son of Azad HussainGanaie, both residents of Mandujian,” he said.
The spokesman said that during the search, arms and ammunition including one Pistol along with one Magazine, eight rounds and two Chinese Grenades and other incriminating materials have been recovered from their possession.
“Accordingly, a case FIR No 23/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Imamsahib and further investigation has been initiated,” he said.
Pertinent to mention here, on May 03, Police along with security forces apprehended over ground workers during the investigation into the April 08 attack on a non-local cab driver in the Shopian district of south Kashmir.
On April 08, a non-local cab driver was injured after being shot by terrorists in Padpawan, of Shopian district. He was identified as Paramjit Singh (Driver), a resident of Delhi.
A police officer said that a joint team of police, the Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles, and the CRPF’s 14 battalion made a significant breakthrough in the case by arresting an OGW.
“With a significant development in the investigation of the Padpawan attack case at Danish Resorts, Shopian Police, along with 44RR and 14BN CRPF, have made a noteworthy breakthrough at Chotipora with the recovery of 06 AK 47 rounds, two cell phones, and one OGW,” the official said.
Meanwhile Police have registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. The investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this terror crime,” the officer said.
