Shopian, July 24: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Shopian, SKUAST-K, in collaboration with JKCIP, Innovation and startup cell SKUAST-K kick-started two-day Boot Camp/Ideation event aimed at identifying, mentoring, handholding, and supporting aspiring and early-stage Agri-entrepreneurs in the field of agriculture and allied sectors.In a statement issued here, the Inaugural session was graced by Principal Degree College, Shopian Prof (Dr.) Shafiq Ahmad, and was attended by District Agricultural Officer Shopian, Superintendent ITI, Shopian, CEO SKIIE Centre, Manager Incubation JKCIP SKUAST-K, scientists of Kendra, members from different FPOs, SHGs, NGOs, aspiring entrepreneurs, Agri-tech enthusiasts, innovators, rural youth and students.Prof. (Dr.) Shafiq in his keynote address emphasized the critical role of innovation and entrepreneurship in addressing modern agricultural challenges and enhancing farmers’ income.Prof. Zaffar A Badri, Head, KVK Shopian reaffirmed the Kendra’s commitment to nurturing startups that can generate employment, improve productivity, and enhance farmers’ incomes.CEO SKIIE Centre, SKUAST-K, highlighted the role of Innovation and Start-up ecosystem under SKUAST-K and JKCIP led by Hon. Vice Chancellor SKUAST -K and highlighted the JKCIP Startup Policy Framework and strategies to handhold the young minds for self sustainability and self-reliant J&K.This Boot Camp will span two days of intensive mentoring sessions, ideation events, pitch presentations, and expert-led panels. Participants will receive guidance on business model development, value chain integration, marketing strategies, funding opportunities, and government support schemes for Agri-entrepreneurs.Special emphasis is being placed on ideas that are sustainable, climate-resilient, and community-focused. The event marks a significant step towards nurturing a vibrant innovation ecosystem.
