Srinagar, Aug 03: The J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, in collaboration with the Kashmir Music Club, organized a tributary musical concert to honor the late music legends of Kashmir and carry forward their legacy.
Principal Secretary of Culture, Suresh Kumar Gupta, who was the chief guest on this occasion, emphasized the importance of such events and highlighted the role and goals of their department in promoting the art and artists of Jammu & Kashmir.
Prominent artist and Chairman of the Kashmir Music Club, Waheed Jeelani, explained the inspiration behind organizing this event. He expressed gratitude to the government, supporters, and audience for their unwavering support. Additional Secretary of the Cultural Academy, Shri Sanjive Rana, elaborated on the mandate of the institution and extended a warm welcome to everyone present.
As a mark of respect, the families of the legends were honored, and Suresh Kumar Gupta and Sanjive Rana were also felicitated by the Kashmir Music Club.
The program’s highlights included performances by prominent singers such as Deepali Wattal, Qaisar Nizami, Waheed Jeelani, Assad Anjum, Shazia Hameed, and Aqib Assad. Their melodious renditions of songs by the late legends captivated the packed Tagore Hall auditorium.
Intellectuals, artists, writers, and people from all walks of life had gathered in the auditorium to pay homage to these late music maestros. The proceedings of this memorable and historical musical concert were conducted by well-known anchor Azhar Hajini.
