Srinagar, July 03: Directorate of Extension SKUAST-K under the guidance of Vice Chancellor and in collaboration with Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry Shuhama and KVK Leh kick started one-week hands-on training programme on “Management of Pashmina Goat and Pashmina Fiber analysis” on Tuesday.
Prof Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director Extension/Education was the chief guest on the occasion. The inaugural was also attended by Head KVK, Leh, Prof Feroz Sheikh, Scientists of Directorate of Extension and participants of the training programme from Ladakh region.
Director Extension/Education, Prof Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi appraised about various programmes conducted by the university for the benefit of farmers and farmwomen. He advised the trainees to empower themselves through specific skills to serve the society at large and to earn the living. He further emphasized on the need of scientific management of pashmina goat and treatment of pashmina goats for different ailments. He further said that the basic objective for the training is to provide a platform for trainees to expand their knowledge regarding Pashmina Fiber, quality analysis and identification and isolation of different endoparasites in goats. He stressed upon the need to augment the economy of the youth and stressed on entrepreneurship development for empowering farmers and farm women.
Head KVK Leh, Prof Feroz presented the overview of the training programme. Dr Liyaqat Chaudhary Professor Directorate of Extension SKUAST-K proposed the vote of thanks.
