Srinagar, Dec 18: A three-day training program titled “Hands-on Training Programme in Fish Disease Diagnosis for Nurturing Entrepreneurial Skills” was inaugurated on December 17, 2024, at the Faculty of Fisheries. Dr. Farooz Ahmad Bhat, Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries, was the chief guest at the event. Other dignitaries present during the inaugural function included Mr. Mohi-ud-Din Wani, Joint Director of Fisheries, as the Guest of Honour, and Dr. Feroz A. Shah, Head of the Department of Aquatic Animal Health Management and Organizing Secretary of the program. The trainees comprised Fisheries Inspectors, Deputy Inspectors, Field Extension Workers from the Department of Fisheries, and progressive farmers.
During the event, Dr. Farooz Ahmad Bhat, Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries, emphasized the importance of raising awareness about Fish Health Management at the farm level to enhance productivity and double the income of farmers. Dr. Bhat also appreciated the Director of Fisheries for nominating 40 officers and officials from the Department as trainees. Mr. Mohi-ud-Din Wani, Joint Director of Fisheries, commended the efforts of the Faculty of Fisheries, SKUAST-K, for organizing such an initiative to provide hands-on training to extension functionaries and fish farmers. He stressed the need for conducting such programs with a focus on addressing field-level challenges.
Dr. Feroz A. Shah, while welcoming the participants, underscored the importance of the workshop and Fish Health Management at the farm level. Dr. Shah also provided an overview of the three-day training program. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Syed Shariq N. Qadiri.
