Ganderbal, Feb 05: The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic for Rural Kashmir, Ravinder Paul Singh on Wednesday said that traffic violations in the region have seen a decline of 70–80%. SSP revealed the same during an inspection of traffic enforcement in the Kangan area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Speaking to Rising Kashmir SSP Singh highlighted the efforts of the traffic police in curbing violations and ensuring road safety. “The reduction in traffic violations is a positive step, but our aim is to eliminate the remaining 20% as well. We are committed to making roads safer for everyone,” he said.

Singh emphasised that traffic violations will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against offenders in accordance with the law. He also issued a stern warning to parents and youngsters, urging them to adhere to traffic regulations. “Parents should not hand over vehicles to underage children, and youngsters must refrain from performing stunts on bikes or other vehicles. Such actions not only endanger their lives but also violate traffic laws. Anyone found guilty will face legal action and fines,” he stated.

He said that the public is cooperating with the traffic police, which is a positive development. “If people continue to cooperate with the traffic police, it will be the best way to prevent road fatalities,” he added.

He said that a special drive was conducted against vehicle overloading and overcharging passengers in Kangan. He added that action has been taken against traffic violators.

The SSP further said that traffic police teams are conducting regular vehicle inspections across the region. “Any vehicle found without proper documentation will not be allowed to operate on the roads. We are ensuring strict compliance with traffic rules to maintain order and safety,” he added.

Authorities have reiterated their appeal to the public to follow traffic rules diligently, emphasizing that adherence to regulations is crucial for personal safety and the well-being of others, he said.
