Budgam, Sept 08: District administration of Budgam Thursday inaugurated the first ever cellular network connectivity at the renowned tourist destination of Doodhpathri in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Thursday.

The primary objective of this initiative is to provide adequate network and internet connectivity to tourists and visitors. The installation of telecom towers at Doodhpathri has been carried out by JIO telecom company.

The Deputy Commissioner of Budgam, Akshay Labroo, said that network connectivity was a long-pending demand at the Doodhpathri tourist destination.

“The network facility would not only promote this destination as one of the best tourist destinations in Jammu and Kashmir but also provide livelihood opportunities for the locals,” Labroo said.

DC Budgam emphasised that the LG Administration is committed to developing Doodhpathri, Yousmarg, and Tosamaidaan as tourism hubs not only in Kashmir but also across the country. “All efforts are underway to develop tourist-related facilities.”

Labroo stated that the network facility would prove to be a major development in changing the overall tourism scenario of this tourist spot.

He also mentioned that the district administration of Budgam has invited NIFT Srinagar to provide designing support for the development of tourist shelters, selfie points, and the beautification of traditional Dokas. Efforts are also being made to ensure the development of additional toilet blocks, a cafeteria, and parking facilities at Doodhpathri.

The DC expressed his gratitude to Jio Company, the Tourism Department, the Forest Department, and all other stakeholders for their support in ensuring the installation of the twin towers at Doodhpathri in the shortest possible time.
