A tragic accident occurred near Pani Matha Zojila when a heavy rock fell on an Alto car, resulting in the on-the-spot deaths of two individuals.
The car, traveling from Matayan to Kangan, was struck by the falling rock, causing severe injuries to three other occupants.
According to official sources, the incident happened near the Pani Matha area on the Zojila pass. The impact of the rockfall was immediate and devastating, leading to the deaths of two passengers at the scene. Rescue operations were promptly initiated by medical teams from Sonamarg, local police, and locals who rushed to assist.
The three injured individuals were quickly transported to the Primary Health Center (PHC) in Sonamarg. Despite the medical team’s best efforts, one of the injured succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, raising the death toll to three.
The local community has expressed deep sorrow over the incident, extending their condolences to the families of the victims.
