Srinagar, Dec 4: The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) and State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted raids at the Central Jail Srinagar on Wednesday, seizing multiple digital devices in connection with a terror-linked case.
A senior police officer confirmed that the raids were part of an ongoing investigation into a terror-related case, during which technical signatures were found within the jail premises. “The raids were planned and conducted based on a search warrant obtained from the competent court. So far, five to six digital devices, including cellphones, SIM cards, and tablets, have been recovered,” the official said.
The officer added that the inmates were found to be in continuous contact with members of terrorist organizations across the border, receiving directions and passing them on to active militants operating in the Kashmir Valley.
“The searches were conducted across different blocks and barracks of Central Jail Srinagar, where incriminating materials, including SIM cards, mobile phones, and other digital devices, were recovered and seized,” the official noted.
The investigation is part of a larger conspiracy involving proscribed terrorist organizations operating within Jammu & Kashmir and across the Line of Control (LoC, orchestrated by Pakistani agencies, in collaboration with their overground workers (OGWs) and sympathizers in Kashmir.
Authorities said these groups are actively working to create new terror modules by exploiting social media platforms to lure Kashmir’s youth, using methods like radicalization and provocation. “The intention is to involve the youth in unlawful and terrorist activities and to recruit them into terrorist ranks for furthering the goals of these organizations,” the official added.
Earlier, on October 22, CIK had carried out searches across 10 locations in Kashmir, leading to the detention of seven suspects. The operation also resulted in the recovery of 14 mobile phones, one laptop, and other incriminating materials.
