A teenage boy was hospitalized after drowning in a local stream while taking a bath in north Kashmir’s Sopore area on Saturday evening.
Police identified the boy as Hareeb Suhail, son of Suhail Ahmed Guroo, a resident of Seer Jagir in Sopore.
Police said that the unfortunate incident took place in Pohru Nallah in the Mazbug locality of Sopore.
According to a police official, the young boy was enjoying a bath with his friends when the incident occurred.
“Upon noticing his distress, the locals present at the scene immediately alerted the authorities, prompting a swift response from both the locals and a police team stationed at the fruit Mandi in Sopore,” he said.
The police official said that the police personnel and locals courageously sprang into action to rescue the teenager from the perilous waters.
“The boy was rescued successful, and promptly rushed to the nearby sub-district hospital in Sopore,” he added.
Due to the critical nature of his condition, the doctors at SDH Sopore shifted the teenager to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment.
