Srinagar, Aug 10: Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Kulgam, Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami, has urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to take immediate steps for the reopening of tourist destinations in Budgam district, including Doodhpathri, Tosamaidan, Yousmarg, Nilnag and other scenic locations.Tarigami, in a statement issued here, said a deputation from the area recently met him and requested that he raise their demand with the authorities.“These tourist spots are not just scenic attractions but vital sources of livelihood for many locals, including stall owners, drivers, ponywalas and others. Their prolonged closure has severely impacted the incomes of these people,” he said. The CPI(M) leader appealed to the government to at least allow local tourists to visit these destinations, stressing that Doodhpathri, Nilnag and Yousmarg in particular should be reopened without delay.“The LG must look into the matter seriously and ensure that these places are made accessible to visitors again, so that the affected families can resume their means of earning,” Tarigami added.
