Srinagar, Sept 10: National Conference (NC) on Tuesday accused former minister Taj Mohiuddin of being a proxy of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Addressing a press conference at the party office in Boniyar, Dr Sajjad Shafi Uri, NC District President Baramulla and party candidate from Uri claimed that forces backed by the BJP have united against him in Uri. “Why did Taj Sahab visit Delhi for two days, and upon his return, why did he go straight to Altaf Bukhari’s residence? Who in Delhi facilitated this alliance between Bukhari and Mohiuddin?”
He further stated that the BJP has already announced its plan to support independent candidates in Kashmir, hinting that Mohiuddin is one of them. “It is evident that he is being backed by the BJP and the RSS,” he added.
Sajjad also criticised the support extended by the Apni party chief Altaf Bukhari to Taj Mohiuddin as evidence of the latter’s “long-standing warm ties” with the BJP.
“Time has revealed even the last of the BJP’s allies in Kashmir, who have for years concealed their affiliations under the guise of various political parties. But the people of Uri are aware of this and will not allow anyone to tie up with RSS-backed BJP to represent us,” he said. “Things were much clear to the public in Uri when Congress denied Mohiuddin’s entry into the party recently.”
