Kargil, Jan 19: Suru valley in the Union Territory of Ladakh Sunday witnessed its first-ever winter paragliding flights, conducted by the Ladakh Flying School in Namsuru.
This groundbreaking event highlighted the valley’s potential as a premier destination for winter adventure tourism, offering breathtaking views and ideal conditions for paragliding enthusiasts.
Councillor Syed Aga Ain Ul Hudda of Parkachik expressed his excitement about the initiative, stating that, “Suru Valley boasts immense potential for winter sports, from skiing and snowboarding to ice climbing. This is just the beginning of a transformative journey for the region.”
In addition to the paragliding event, Hudda announced the launch of a week-long aerospace activity program. This initiative, combining theoretical and practical sessions, aims to equip local youth with skills in adventure sports and aerospace, fostering new opportunities for growth and development.
The paragliding flights add to a series of successful endeavours, such as skiing courses and the Suru Outdoor Festival, all aimed at establishing Suru Valley as a global hotspot for adventure tourism. Aga Ainul emphasized the importance of harnessing these opportunities for sustainable development, ensuring job creation while preserving the region’s natural beauty.
He further noted: “The introduction of winter paragliding and aerospace activities reflects the growing momentum in Suru Valley’s journey to becoming a hub for adventure enthusiasts worldwide.”
