Jammu, Jan 11: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Executive Member Raman Suri urged the devotees desirous of attending Mahakumbh at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh (UP) to avail the facilities of special trains that the Indian Railways has decided to run for devotees from Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh (UT) government headed by CM Yogi Adityanath, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh had visited J&K and invited the people of Jammu and Kashmir to attend the Maha Kumbh to be held from January 13 to February 26 in Prayagraj.
Highlighting the religious importance of Mahakumbh, Suri described it as one of the largest spiritual gatherings on the planet, celebrated every 12 years at the confluence of the sacred rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati in Prayagraj. “Taking a holy dip in the sacred waters during Mahakumbh is believed to cleanse one’s soul and lead to spiritual liberation, making it a deeply revered occasion for Hindus worldwide,” he said.
The BJP leader extended heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, Member Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for facilitating the sacred pilgrimage of Mahakumbh for devotees from Jammu and Kashmir.
Responding to the long-standing demand of the people, the Indian Railways has announced the commencement of special trains from Jammu to Prayagraj, ensuring smooth travel for the faithful devotees to attend this spiritually significant event.
He credited Dr Jitendra Singh for personally receiving a representation from the Sanatan Dharam community of Jammu Kashmir, who requested the operation of special trains from Jammu to Prayagraj, and for effectively pursuing the matter with the Union Railway Minister. This positive response by the government showcases a deep commitment to upholding cultural and religious sentiments while ensuring better connectivity for pilgrims.
“We owe it to PM Narendra Modi for enabling citizens across the nation, including Jammu and Kashmir, to practice their faith freely and with dignity. The decision to run these special trains reflects the government’s dedication to preserving the spiritual fabric of our nation and serving the religious aspirations of the people,” Suri remarked.
The BJP leader further pointed out that devotees from Kathua had specifically requested a stoppage of the special trains at Kathua Railway Station, and he expressed hope that this demand would be positively considered to ensure wider accessibility.
