Rajouri, May 14: Mian Altaf Ahmed, National Conference candidate for the Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency on Tuesday made a fervent appeal to people to support the INDIA alliance to “save the Constitution of India, media and the social fabric” of the country.
He said this while addressing a public meeting in Manjakote, Rajouri, here. Rattan Lal Gupta, NC Provincial President, Abdul Gani Malik former minister, and others including senior leaders of Congress accompanied him.
In his address, Mian Altaf said, “J&K is passing through bad times because certain entities with divisive agenda are working to disturb the social fabric prevalent in the region since times immemorial. Only the INDIA alliance can protect the country from the forces hell-bent on distorting the bonhomie and brotherhood between different communities.”
The former minister alleged that both the judiciary and media, which are considered as vital pillars of democracy, are under siege these days. “This poses a big challenge to the country’s shinning democracy,” he said, adding, “People have understood the game plan of the divisive forces trying to create a wedge between the people and that is why people have decided to support the INDIA alliance wholeheartedly.”
Rattan Lal Gupta in his address said, “With nothing in offing for the youths, the incumbent government has found the Agniveer scheme as a new tool to exploit the young lot in the country because it will be thrown out on the road after four years of its engagement.”
“People by now have got the idea that it is the INDIA alliance which is best for the country as those sitting at the helm have proved beyond doubt that they are useless, spendthrift and good for nothing, and have pushed the people of the country to the wall by their directionless and anti policies implemented in the last ten years,” he added.
Shabir Khan, the former minister, raised the issue of miseries faced by people living near the border belt of Rajouri claiming that the present dispensation remained apathetic and indifferent towards their cause.
“The INDIA alliance is aware of their hardship and soon after coming to power, the focus shall be on bailing the people out of morass by fulfilling all of their aspirations without any compromise,” he said.
