Student on picnic drowns to death in Sonamarg

Ganderbal, June 24: A 14-year-old student drowned to death in the Sonamarg area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Saturday.
Shoaib Farooq, son of Farooq Ahmad Chochi, of Baramullah Public School, was on a picnic in Sonamarg. As per reports, the boy drowned while taking a bath near Fish Point.
Soon after the incident, a police party from Police Station Sonamarg along with locals reached the spot and launched a massive rescue operation to fish out the boy from the water. After hectic efforts, the body was retrieved from the pond and was shifted to PHC Sonamarg.
Police registered a case in this regard and have started further investigation.
