Sri Pratap College kick-starts Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations

Srinagar, Sep 18: Sri Pratap College kick-started Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations, with Principal of the College, Prof (Dr) Ghulam Jeelani Qureshi formally inaugurating the event.
The celebrations started with Cleanliness Drive of the College campus under the ambit of Swatchhta Abhiyan.
During the opening ceremony, the Principal of the College deliberated upon the Gandhian ideology of non-violence, peace and cleanliness. He impressed upon the participants to take upon the responsibility of making the campus and the surroundings clean and green.
80 NSS volunteers and NSS programme officers participated enthusiastically in the cleanliness drive and collected 40 kgs plastic waste from the campus. The waste was finally handed over to Srinagar Municipal Corporation for proper scientific disposal at their end.
 
 
S.P College organizes awareness programme on psycho-social counseling for youth
As part of on-going Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations 2023, the NSS Units of Sri Pratap College, Srinagar in collaboration with Mission Youth, J&K on Monday organized one day awareness programme on Psycho-Social Counseling for Youth on Mental Health and Drug Addiction, here.
The Resource Person for the event was Dr. Maria Zahoor, Senior Resident at IMHANS.
The event was formally inaugurated by Principal of the College, Dr. Ghulam Jeelani Qureshi who impressed upon students to take up the responsibility of removing the stigma and taboos associated with mental health issues. He urged the students to come forward and open up about any kind of anxieties they face.
The speaker of the event spoke at length about the identification marks of suicidal tendencies, drug abuse, Depression and other mental health disorders.
150 NSS volunteers enthusiastically participated in the event. Later the speaker had a one to one conversation with the students who were facing stress and anxiety related issues.
The event was jointly coordinated by NSS Programme Officers, Dr Javaid, Dr Nadia and Dr. Raashid.
