Srinagar, July 8: In a grand and inspiring ceremony held at the prestigious Radisson Collection in Srinagar, the trophy and official team jerseys of the much-anticipated Khyber Cements Kashmir Super League Powered by Athwas Hyundai were unveiled Tuesday by the J&K’s Sports Minister Satish Sharma.A statement issued here said that gracing the occasion as the chief guest, Minister Sharma lauded the efforts of the organisers for conceptualising and executing a football league of such stature. “Initiatives like the Kashmir Super League are not just about sport, they are a vital platform for our youth to express their talent and represent Kashmir on national and global stages. These events empower and inspire our next generation,” he said. Also present at the event was Sarmad Hafeez , Commissioner Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, who emphasized the significance of diversifying sports in the region. “While cricket continues to hold immense popularity, leagues such as the Kashmir Super League are essential for reviving the football culture that Kashmir was once known for. This league is a step towards reinstating football to its rightful glory,” he said.Nuzhat Gul, Secretary, J&K Sports Council, warmly welcomed the dignitaries, sponsors, players, and team officials. In her address, she reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to nurturing sports across the J&K. “We are dedicated to creating more such opportunities for our youth. I am pleased to announce that a similar football league will soon be organised in Jammu, ensuring equitable sporting exposure across the region,” she said. The event was attended by notable dignitaries including Anisa Nabi, Chief Sports Officer, senior officials from the J&K Sports Council, team officials, sponsors, and participating players, all of whom applauded the launch of what is set to become a marquee football event in the region. The Khyber Cements Kashmir Super League Powered by Athwas Hyundai promises a new chapter in Kashmir’s sporting journey uniting passion, talent, and opportunity under one banner.
