Ganderbal, July 07: The teachers and masters in this central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district have alleged favouritism and nepotism in the transfers and postings.
Many teachers of the education zones in Ganderbal alleged that the transfers had been made in violation of the transfer policy.
In April this year, the government issued a detailed policy (ATD) for the transfer of teachers and other officials of the education department which was hailed by all as being online mode, it would enable transparency. However, a section of teachers alleged that some among them have been adjusted and as per their wishes while others were sent to far-flung areas.
One of the teachers wishing anonymity said, “While making the transfers, it seems the authorities have done wrong with us. The interesting cases have appeared wherein teachers have been transferred from one school and posted at other schools at a distance not more than a few kilometers and the zonation method claimed in the policy has been thrown to the wind.”
Many teachers with health issues and also female teachers have been transferred to far-flung areas and difficult terrains, he said.
These teachers have urged the LG administration, DC Ganderbal and Director School Education to look into the matter.
Chief Education Officer (CEO) Ganderbal Majeed Ahmad Kohli termed the allegations as baseless. “This is totally wrong that there has been nepotism or favoritism in the transfer policy or in the list. The teachers have been transferred through ATD policy,” he said.
The CEO said the transfer list reaches Commissioner Secretary and Director School Education’s office, and only then the transfer takes place. He said 179 teachers were transferred through ATD mode.
