Ganderbal, July 24: Under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Kashvet Innovations Private Limited (SKUAST-K Start-up), in collaboration with the Department of Animal Husbandry, Ganderbal, organized a Scientist-Dairy Entrepreneurs Meet at KVK-Ganderbal.
The event saw participation from 70 dairy entrepreneurs across Ganderbal district, who engaged with scientists from the university and officers of the Animal Husbandry department. The Dairy farmers highlighted challenges in scientific feeding, breeding, and health management of livestock. Scientists and officers attentively listened to these concerns and provided expert solutions.
Dean Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Prof. M.T. Banday, was the Chief guest and OSD to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Azmat Alam Khan was the guest of honour. Dean emphasized the importance of such interactions and commending the organizers. He urged scientists to remain accessible for addressing livestock entrepreneurs’ issues in health, feeding, and reproductive management. OSD in his address underscored the university’s role in disseminating beneficial technologies to farmers and promoting innovation and start-up culture. He advised Kashvet Innovations to ensure that the feed and feed supplements made available to farmers meet quality standards.
Prof. A.M. Ganai, Head of Division of Animal Nutrition, highlighted the significance of balanced animal feeding and the university’s role in developing and commercializing vital feed supplements. Chief Scientist and Head, MLRI, Prof. R.A. Shah, in his address threw light on the ongoing dairy research at the university and its practical applications in the dairy sector. Dr Muzaffar Ahmed Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Ganderbal appraised the farmers about various government schemes and theier possible benefits for the dairy farmers.
Irfan Ahmad Khan, Demonstrator in the Department of Large Animal Medicine and Surgery in the Saint George’s University, Granada who was also present as an invited guest participated and interacted with the dairy farmers.
Also present were Prof. A. Muhee, Head of Veterinary Clinics, Dr. Parvaiz Reshi, Senior Scientist (Animal Nutrition), Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Wani, Senior Scientist (Veterinary Parasitology), Dr. Ghulam Rasool Bhat, Scientist (Veterinary Gynaecology), Dr. Muzamil Abdullah, Scientist (Livestock Production Management), and Dr. Shaheen Farooq, SMS (Animal Science) KVK Ganderbal, who interacted with participating dairy entrepreneurs and answered their queries.
Founder & Director Kashvet Innovations, Dr P.A. Reshi detailed the CSR initiatives aimed at promoting dairy farming practices through knowledge exchange and innovative solutions that would benefit farmers and in-vigourate the dairy sector in the region. He informed that more such programmes would be organised in all the districts.
