Srinagar, June 12: Sheik-Ul Aalam Library SKUAST-K Shalimar organised a one day orientation Programme on“Practical implementation of ONOS (One Nation One Subscription) under HADP-Project:20 “Innovative Extension Approaches for Promoting Agriculture in J&K” . The Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, was the chief Guest and Prof. Shabir Ahmad Wani Director Planning & Monitoring’ was Guest of Honour. Inaugural Session was also attended by Director Education, Prof M.A Bhat. A welcome address and overview of the programme was presented by the University Librarian Prof. Afshan Gul.

The Vice Chancellor in his address dwelled upon the importance of Libraries in the digital era and highlighted the vision and mission of making India Atmanirbar and Viksitbharat@2047. He identified Research as a pre-requisite for outstanding education and development in our country and as a step in the direction. The Govt of India approved One Nation One Subscription scheme to provide country wide access to international high impact scholarly research articles and Journal.  Vice Chancellor also unveiled the plaque for naming the library as Sheik-Ul Aalam Library.

Director Planning & Monitoring, Prof. Shabir Ahmad Wani highlighted the importance of Competition Success Corner created in the library. He encouraged the students to compete at national and international level by engaging in deeper learning and to seek & understand different concepts more profoundly in order to perform well, in competitive examinations.

Prof. Mohd Altaf Bhat Director Education in his address appraised students about how to handle setbacks and failures in life with courage, and asked the students to adopt diversity and inclusion which helps in promoting an Inclusive environment. Event concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Asra Mattoo, Professional Assistant.
