Srinagar, Dec 13: The Institute of Business and Policy Research and Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Science and Technology (SKUAST) Kashmir, in collaboration with the University of Kashmir Friday organized a series of entrepreneurship awareness programs on Agri-tourism, Entrepreneurial Marketing, Self-Employment Opportunities in Agriculture and allied sectors from 10-12 December.
A statement issued here said that these joint programs aimed to address the growing need for sustainable economic solutions and empower youth with entrepreneurial skills, and promote the integration of modern business strategies within the region’s agri-business ecosystem.
“Renowned experts from both universities, along with practitioners, conducted technical sessions to provide practical insights and guidance. Dr. Abid Sultan, Organizing Secretary and Scientist from Institute of Business and Policy Research, SKUAST-Kashmir, highlighted the importance of fostering a supportive ecosystem for budding entrepreneurs. He held that these awareness programs are designed to inspire and equip individuals to become change-makers for driving both economic growth and entrepreneurship development,” the statement said, adding that “He also said that these programs not only provide training to youth but also create a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and growth for sustainable entrepreneurship.”
The statement said that Prof. Farzana Gulzar, Coordinator from University of Kashmir stated that these entrepreneurship awareness programs are a timely intervention, offering participants not only knowledge but also the confidence to explore and capitalize on emerging opportunities in agri-tourism, marketing and self-employment. “Prof. Sameer Gul, University of Kashmir remarked that these programs enhance skills among youth as well as foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship,” the statement said, adding that “He emphasized that these awareness programs provide an excellent platform for participants to explore new ideas and build successful ventures that benefit not only themselves but also their communities.”
The statement said that Prof. Mushtaq A. Darzi, Dean, School of Business, University of Kashmir said that these collaborative entrepreneurship programs integrate education, innovation and practical solutions for effective entrepreneurship development. He added that these initiatives also foster an entrepreneurial mindset, turning challenges into opportunities and leveraging the region and unique resources for sustainable growth of the economy and enhance livelihoods across the region.
Prof. Majid Zamaan, Controller of Examination, University of Kashmir commended the initiative of Institute of Business and Policy Research, SKUAST-Kashmir and the University of Kashmir for organizing series of entrepreneurship skill development training programs. “He stated these collaborative efforts address the evolving needs of the economy and society and are vital in equipping our youth with the skills and knowledge required to thrive in today’s competitive world. He emphasized the role of innovation and collaboration in today’s business world,” the statement said. “ He accentuated that in a rapidly changing global environment, the integration of entrepreneurship with education offers a transformative pathway to uplift rural communities, generate employment, and enhance economic resilience. Such initiatives demonstrate the power of academia to inspire and empower individuals to create meaningful change.” The statement said that the program was coordinated by Arijmand Shahid and Mir Fazal Mohammad.
