Srinagar, Dec 16: The Institute of Business and Policy Research (IBPR) SKUAST-Kashmir Monday organized an Entrepreneurship Awareness Program(s) (EAPs) titled “Essential Leadership Skills for Successful Entrepreneurship” and “Agri-Tourism Entrepreneurship Opportunities in UT of J&K.”
“The programs were held in collaboration with Vishwa Bharati Women’s College, Rainawari aimed to inspire students to explore entrepreneurial ventures as viable career paths and to sensitize them of future skills required for seizing job opportunities,” the statement said, adding that “the inaugural event was graced by Chief Guest, Prof. Bashir Ahmad (Principal, VBWC, Rainawari) who was accompanied by faculty members from SKUAST-Kashmir and VBWC.”
In his address, Prof. Bashir Ahmad commended Prof. Nazir A. Ganai, Vice-Chancellor of SKUAST-K, for promoting collaborations between academia and industry. “He highlighted the critical role of entrepreneurship in today’s economy, citing inspiring entrepreneurial leaders and discussing essential leadership qualities that contribute to entrepreneurial success. Prof. Bashir encouraged students to consider entrepreneurship as a pathway to self-reliant livelihoods,” the statement said.
He said Dr. Omar Fayaz Khan, (Organizing Secretary) provided an insightful overview of the EAP initiatives, emphasizing how government promoted entrepreneurship programs at both central and state levels encourage for capacity building of youth in contemporary skills. “Dr Khan underscored the importance of skill-based education as the foundation for sustainable career opportunities,” he said.
The statement said. That Dr. Abid Sultan, (Co-Organizing Secretary), stressed the need for individuals to develop a combination of technical skills and entrepreneurial mindsets to remain competitive in the rapidly changing job market. “He highlighted that fostering creativity, adaptability, and business acumen alongside technical expertise will not only enhance career success but also contribute to broader economic resilience in the face of emerging challenges,” the statement said. The session wrapped up with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Prof. Ronika Yousuf, Program Coordinator from VBWC, who conveyed her sincere appreciation to all participants, speakers, and organizers for their dedication and contributions to the program’s success. The programme was coordinated by student coordinators- Tayab, Arijmand and Fazal Mohammad Mir.
