Srinagar, Jan 14: The Directorate of Extension and Krishi Vigyan Kendras, in collaboration with the J&K Rural Livelihood Mission (JKRLM), inaugurated a three-day training programme titled Nutrimix Formula for Lactating and Pregnant Women. The program, aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle among pregnant and nursing mothers, is being held across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-Kashmir, Prof. Nazir Ahmed Ganai, virtually inaugurated the programme. In his inaugural address, he emphasized the significance of such initiatives in addressing the nutritional needs of women during critical stages of pregnancy and lactation. He highlighted how the training aligns with broader goals of improving maternal and child health in rural and peri-urban communities. The training programme aims to demonstrate recipes of premixes including chick pea bars, nutri-grain, vegetable premix, traditional Kashmiri vegetable premix, pulse premix and edible seed pre mix over the period of three days.
The inaugural session at KVK Srinagar witnessed active participation from various stakeholders, including scientists of the Kendra, representatives from JKRLM, and female youth and women from rural and peri-urban areas of Srinagar. On the first day, participants received first-hand information on preparation of variety of Nutri-mixes recipes, ensuring that these formulations cover a majority of essential nutrients required for the well-being of lactating and pregnant women. The interactive sessions addressed the queries of participants, equipping them with the knowledge to implement these nutritional solutions effectively in their communities.
