Udhampur, Jan 14: Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA), Udhampur, has launched two specialized 5-day training programs aimed at enhancing the professional skills of police personnel in Jammu and Kashmir.
The first course, focusing on “New Criminal Laws,” includes 30 officers and officials from Udhampur and Reasi districts. This program is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of newly introduced criminal laws, including the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bhartiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). Through interactive discussions, participants are gaining crucial insights into recent legal updates and their effective application in law enforcement.
The second course addresses the critical issue of “Safety of Women,” with 20 investigators from various districts participating. This program aims to equip officers with advanced investigative techniques and a deep understanding of key legislations such as the POCSO Act, Juvenile Justice Act, IT Act, and other relevant laws. The course also emphasizes tackling emerging challenges, including cybercrime, which poses increasing threats to women and children.
The training programs were inaugurated by Rajinder Kumar Gupta, IPS, SSP, Deputy Director (Indoor/Trainings) at SKPA Udhampur. In his address, Gupta delivered a detailed lecture on the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), highlighting its importance in strengthening the criminal justice system. He underscored the need for meticulous investigations, particularly in cases involving women and children, and emphasized adherence to legal provisions to secure successful convictions.
The women’s safety training includes lectures by renowned experts from the Police Academy, academia, and cyber forensics, ensuring a well-rounded and enriching learning experience for the participants.

These initiatives further reinforce SKPA’s commitment to equipping its personnel with up-to-date knowledge and skills, ensuring they remain well-prepared to tackle modern law enforcement challenges.
