Srinagar, Feb 14: The Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura has formed Corpo-rate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Medical Social Welfare Cells to boost patient support and infra-structure development.
The CSR cell has been constituted given the growing need for strengthening healthcare infrastructure and enhancing patient welfare through external partnerships.
It has been tasked to mobilize CSR funds and fostering collaborations with corporate entities for the overall development of healthcare services at the institute.
The CSR cell would be headed by Prof. Ajaz Ahmad Lone, Department of Cardiology, SKIMS, Soura besides four other members.
It would identify potential areas for CSR support, including infrastructure development, patient wel-fare, equipment procurement and research support.
“It aims to establish partnerships with corporate organizations and other stakeholders under CSR guidelines and ensure proper utilization and monitoring of CSR funds in compliance with regulatory requirements,” SKIMS said in an order.
It will work to promote transparency and accountability in all CSR-related initiatives and meet quar-terly or as required to discuss ongoing and potential projects. The CSR cell will prepare and submit periodic reports on CSR activities to the Director SKIMS.
Similarly, SKIMS in an order has also constituted the Medical Social Welfare Cell to provide social support services and address the socio-economic needs of patients requiring financial assistance and other welfare-related services.
The cell would be headed by Prof. Abrar Ahad Wani, Department of Neurosurgery & I/C Head, Emer-gency Medicine, SKIMS, Soura besides five other members.
The medical social welfare cell will assess the socio-economic condition of patients and recommend financial assistant where necessary.
It has been tasked to facilitate free or subsidized treatment for underprivileged patients in coordina-tion with various government schemes and liaise with charitable organizations, NGOs and philan-thropic donors for support.
It will provide counselling and emotional support to patients and their families and ensure transpar-ency and accountability in the disbursement of welfare funds.
The Cell shall meet once in a month or as required to review cases and recommend further actions and submit monthly progress to the Director SKIMS.
