Srinagar, Jul 25:In an effort to promote the use of generic medicines, the SKIMS Soura administration on Tuesday curtailed the visits of Medical Representatives into hospital premises.
A circular issued by SKIMS stated that all medications prescribed in government hospitals should be generic medicines and not branded medicines.
The directive, conveyed by Director General Health Services, Government of India, and endorsed by Director SKIMS & Ex. Officio Secretary to Government, aims to encourage the use of cost-effective generic drugs.
“In this regard, it is also reiterated that visits of Medical Representatives to Government Hospitals premises are completely curtailed. Any information about new launch may be communicated by e-mail only,” it read further.
