Kulgam, May 03: Reshipora, a hamlet some 15 kilometers away from Kulgam district, was shrouded in gloom on Friday morning after the news spread of the siblings’ death in a road accident in Khudwani area in Kulgam along the National Highway.
An official said that the duo died on the spot when their motorcycle collided with a truck on the National Highway near Khudwani. He added that they were subsequently taken to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Qaimoh for medico-legal formalities.
Dr. Gowhar Ali, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Qaimoh, told Rising Kashmir that he received a call at 7 in the morning about the accident and he sent an ambulance to the spot.
“The duo had died on the spot, and we performed the medico-legal formalities. They were identified as Adil Ahmad Dar, aged about 25 years, and Shabir Ahmad Dar, aged about 30 years, sons of Manzoor Ahmad Dar (brothers) and residents of Reshipora Khul Ahmad Abad DH Pora,” he added.
Mohd Ayoub Malik, a local, said that they were siblings. One, Adil, was his younger brother, while Shabir was his elder.
He said that the duo were doing labour work in Srinagar and had come home for an engagement function. “Adil had an engagement the day before, and Nikah too was performed on that day only. The other brother had gotten married a year and a half ago and had a daughter,” the local said.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested the truck driver and registered the case under relevant sections of the law, initiating further investigation.
