Katra, July 14: In a heartening gesture of appreciation, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) has organised a five-day excursion tour to Amritsar for its frontline Swachhta Sahayaks, recognising their tireless efforts in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across the Shrine area.A statement issued here said that scheduled from July 14 to July 18, is being undertaken by a group of 19 cleanliness workers and their families, who were flagged off from Katra on Sunday by Satish Sharma, Joint Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB, along with other Shrine Board officers.Speaking on the occasion, Anshul Garg, Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB, lauded the dedication and consistent hard work of the Swachhta Sahayaks, stating that their contribution plays a vital role in ensuring a clean and spiritually uplifting experience for lakhs of devotees visiting the holy shrine.“This initiative not only provides a refreshing change of pace for the workers, but also aims to help them connect with the deeper values of India’s spiritual and historical legacy,” Garg said. He added that the step is being taken in line with the directions of Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir (Chairman, SMVDSB) to promote staff welfare through meaningful and motivational engagements. During the excursion, the group will explore prominent cultural and spiritual landmarks in Amritsar, including the Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), Jallianwala Bagh, and other significant sites. The Board has made meticulous arrangements for transportation, accommodation, and meals, coordinated by their respective supervisors to ensure a comfortable and enriching experience. “This thoughtfully curated tour is a token of appreciation for the unsung heroes who silently uphold the sanctity and cleanliness of the Shrine,” said Joint CEO Satish Sharma, adding that such initiatives help boost morale, strengthen team bonding, and cultivate a deeper sense of pride among the workforce. Notably, the SMVDSB has consistently taken proactive steps to support and uplift its staff through initiatives such as skill development programmes, health check-ups, reward schemes, and employee engagement activities. This latest initiative stands out as a model for recognising and motivating grassroots service providers in the religious tourism sector.
