Jammu, Mar 20: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended the birth centenary celebrations of renowned writer Shrilal Shukla in Lucknow, where he paid tribute to the literary giant. Reflecting on Shukla’s life and work, the Lieutenant Governor praised his deep understanding of the social and political issues affecting rural India.
He stated, “Shrilal Shukla’s knowledge, his ideas, imagination, and satire not only entertain us but also guide us in building self-reliant villages and a developed India.”
“Once in hundreds of years, few writers possess the wisdom that Shrilal Shukla did. His writing is a beacon, illuminating the path for future generations. His works contain the mysteries of life and the intimate experiences of everyday living. Raag Darbari, in particular, has become a permanent fixture in our collective consciousness,” the Lieutenant Governor added.
Emphasising the importance of writers like Shrilal Shukla in inspiring positive societal change, the Lieutenant Governor remarked, “Books serve as powerful inner eyes, offering glimpses into the world of knowledge and wisdom. Writers, through their words, challenge us to broaden our perspectives, giving us the opportunity to reflect and grow.”
“Shrilal Shukla’s novels and stories enlightened society during his time and continue to offer valuable lessons. His thoughts urge us to focus on reform in our developmental journey. I believe his words have more power than any other form of presentation,” he concluded.
Other dignitaries present at the event included Shri JPS Rathore, Minister of State for Cooperatives, Uttar Pradesh; Shri Dileep Sanghani, Chairman of IFFCO; and Dr. U.S. Awasthi, Managing Director of IFFCO. All paid their respects to Shrilal Shukla’s memory.
Bollywood actors Pankaj Tripathi and Ashok Pathak also participated in the event by reciting excerpts from Shukla’s famous work, Raag Darbari.
