Srinagar, May 06: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited Rajouri district to have a firsthand account of the security situation, as the Army’s anti-militancy operation saw one militant dead and another injured in the Kandi Forest encounter site where five soldiers were killed and a Major rank officer injured during a combing operation.
Singh lauded Army’s unmatched valour & zeal while operating in challenging situations. Defence Minister Singh also stated that those soldiers who laid their lives for the nation, their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
At Jammu Airport, Defence Minister Singh was received by Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and Army Chief General Manoj Pande on his arrival in Jammu. Later, he flew to Rajouri and interacted with the soldiers at the Army Base Camp of the district.
He also motivated them to continue serving the nation with bravery and dedication. He boosted the morale of soldiers and stated that entire nations stand with them.
While interacting with Jawans at Rajouri, Defence Minister commended their valour and zeal of soldiers while operating in challenging situations.
“Nation feels secure because of the unmatched courage, commitment and constant vigil of the soldiers of the Indian Army in difficult areas,” he said.
The Defence Minister also motivated them to continue working with the same dedication and bravery, stating that the Government and the people of the country are with the Armed Forces always.

In a tweet, Defence Minister Singh wrote, “Visited the Army Base Camp in Rajouri, J&K today. Reviewed the operational capabilities and security situation along the border. Also, interacted with the brave soldiers of the Indian Army. India salutes their devotion towards protecting our motherland,” he said.
Defence Spokesman, Lt. Devinder Anand told Rising Kashmir that Defence minister, Lt Governor and Chief of Army Staff visited Rajouri and after the visit they left for Delhi in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing operation, one terrorist has been killed and one likely injured in a fresh exchange of fire that erupted in the forest area of Kandi in the early hours of Saturday.
