Jammu, June 21: Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu-Kashmir unit has accused the Jammu division administration of step-motherly treatment with tourist places and has termed all claims of promotion and development as “hollow”.
According to a statement, the party’s state chief Manish Sahni talked to media persons at Patnitop, the main tourist place of Jammu division. He said that in terms of natural beauty and weather, the tourist places of the Jammu division are no less than any other. “But they are falling prey to a negligent attitude regarding development, maintenance and promotion,” he said.
Sahni said all the claims of the tourism department regarding the development and promotion of untouched and main tourist places are not visible anywhere on the ground.
“The condition of the road going from the Jammu-Kashmir National Highway to Patnitop has been very pathetic for a long time. Along with this, there is no sign of maintenance in the rest houses of the Jammu-Kashmir Tourism Department,” he said. “Even expired fire extinguishers are hung in the wooden hut to avoid any untoward incident. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is being flouted. Along with this, an appeal was made to do yoga and stay healthy on Yoga Day.”
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader added, “We should not forget that the economy of Jammu and Kashmir is largely dependent on the tourism industry. To give impetus to this, it is very important to pay special attention to the development of tourist places in the state.”
Sahni asked the Lieutenant Governor and the Tourism Department to develop the tourist places of Jammu division along with Kashmir and improve the facilities.
