Kargil, July 15: In a proud moment for Ladakh, Shahnaz Parveen, a dedicated Taekwondo athlete from the region, represented India at the World University Games held in Germany. Competing in the highly competitive Individual Poomsae category, Shahnaz delivered a commendable performance, narrowly losing to Croatia by just three points.This marks her second consecutive appearance at the prestigious event an achievement that places her among the few athletes from Ladakh to have represented India at such a high level. Her continued progress and perseverance have turned her into a role model for many young women athletes in the region. Speaking after her return, Shahnaz expressed heartfelt gratitude to her supporters I sincerely thank our MP Ladakh, Haji Mohammad Hanifa Jan, for his constant encouragement and support. I’m also grateful to the M3M Foundation, my coaches Master Atul Pangotra and Ashok Sir, my university, Joint Director Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, Moses Kunzang Sir, the Ladakh Taekwondo Association, and most importantly, my parents who always believed in me,” she said. Shahnaz also highlighted that her performance this year showed significant improvement compared to her previous outing and vowed to continue striving for excellence in upcoming international tournaments.
