‘Shaan-e-Ramadan fest- 2025’ concludes at KU

Srinagar, Mar 27: To celebrate the spiritual essence of Ramadan and provide a platform for students to showcase their talent, the prize distribution ceremony of two-day festival ‘Shaan-e-Ramadan 2025’ was held at the varsity.
The event was organized by the Division of Youth Affairs, Department of Students’ Welfare (DSW), KU. It aimed to felicitate the winners of various competitions as part of this festival from March 25 to March 26. The event also served as a platform to inspire students to engage with the spiritual and cultural essence of the holy month. Speaking at the occasion, Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan, who was the chief guest, congratulated the participants and organizers for their efforts in making the event a success. “These events not only strengthen our faith but also offer young students a chance to display their talents in a meaningful way,” she said. She also emphasized the significance of such programs in developing spiritual growth and providing a creative platform for students.
Registrar KU, Prof. Naseer Iqbal, who was the guest of honour, appreciated the enthusiasm of the participants and highlighted the university’s commitment to supporting student-driven cultural and spiritual initiatives. Earlier, Dean Students’ Welfare KU, Prof. Pervez Ahmad, welcomed the guests and participants, and underscored the importance of such events in connecting students with cultural and spiritual traditions. In Husne-Qirat competition, Mysum Ali (Amar Singh College), Mohd Ismail Wani (Persian department KU), Iqra Ramzan (SKUAST-K), Abdul Majid (HKM, Bandipora) and Mohd Iqbal (GDC, Beerwah) bagged 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th prizes. In Husne-Naat competition, Syed Kaleemullah Qadri (Islamic Studies KU), Asif Fayaz (IMFA, KU), Tazain (Psychology, KU), Tanzeeb Ahmad (IMFA, KU), and Kamraan Nazir (GDC, Ganderbal) bagged 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th positions.
In traditional calligraphy, Mysum Ali (Amar Singh College), Faizya Ayoub & Zaira (Arabic Department, KU), Usman Sajad (IGNOU), Mariya Amin (Amar Singh College), and Ridha (SKUAST-K) bagged 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th prizes respectively. In contemporary calligraphy, Sarosh (IMFAZ, KU), Shaheen (SKUAST-K), Zainab Khusheed (Computer Science, KU), Anjum Amin (IMFA, KU) and Aneeza Altaf (SKUAST-K) secured 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th positions respectively. The ceremony was attended by university officials, faculty members, and students. The event proceedings were conducted by Cultural Officer DSW KU, Dr. Shahid Ali Khan who was also the organizing secretary of the programme. The festival was co-sponsored by Cemtac, Colour Curve Advertisers, Unibic, and Allama Iqbal Library, KU.
